In this article, I will share a few websites
that connect to the topic of my blog.
1) Time to
Log Off - https://www.itstimetologoff.com/
Time to Log
Off was founded by digital entrepreneur Tanya Goodin. Because of her job, she
was required to be online almost constantly and started gradually noticing the
negative influence extensive technology use had on her life. It’s Time to Log
Off consists of articles about social media and technology use, advice on how
to do a digital detox, and even quizzes that can help you figure out if you’re
addicted to your phone yourself.
2) Project
Know and their section about the link between social media and eating disorders
-https://www.projectknow.com/eating-disorders/and-social-media/
This link
provides more information about how social media affects young women’s body
image. At the end of the article, there are also useful links and advice for
anyone that thinks they might suffer from an eating disorder.
3) The
Instagramreality Subreddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/instagramreality
Subreddits
are forums on the social media website Reddit that anyone can contribute to.
Instagramreality is dedicated to posting edited pictures from (not only) social
media influencers, comparing them to the originals. It is interesting to see
how much some influencers or celebrities edit their pictures. Sometimes, they
are edited so well that you wouldn’t even notice.
4) The Dove
Self Esteem Project - https://www.dove.com/us/en/dove-self-esteem-project.html
The Dove Self
Esteem Project focuses on educating teenage girls, their parents, and
educators. On the website, there are a lot of informative articles about topics
ranging from the depiction of females in music videos or cyberbullying to
self-comparison induced by the media. Each article then has advice for parents
or educators about how to talk about the issue with their child/pupils.
