Through this post, I am going to recommend a few of my classmates’ blogs
which I believe are very interesting and will bring you knowledge about other
current issues in media and society.
Sofia’s blog is dedicated to violence in the media.
She explains how seeing violent content can affect an individual and what I
found especially interesting is that she focuses on both short-term and
long-term effects. She backs up her opinion with a number of relevant studies.
On her blog, Aleksandra talks about the issue of
lookism in the media. I think this issue is very prominent in today’s society,
both in and outside of the media. Aleks explains this issue very well and the
events and studies she discusses are really shocking and eye-opening.
Benjamin’s blog analyzes how sports media mostly
focuses on success. The blog is interesting even for a person who doesn’t know
a lot about sports since Benjamin explains the issue in a way that is clear
and easy to understand. I found out a lot of new information about an important
issue that I have never thought about before.
Michaela’s blog is about sensationalized media
content. I really liked Michaela’s blog, because while sensationalism is
something every media is guilty of, it is not talked about that much. On
Michaela’s blog, you can find what the term “yellow press” means and other
interesting things, like the future of media sensationalism or the
psychological explanation of it.
Alex’s blog focuses on an issue that is directly
connected to mine and that is the impact of social media on the youth. On her
blog, Alex talks about issues like eating junk food, pressure on young girls’ appearance
or the shocking social media challenges that some teenagers actually do. However, she also
mentions the positive effects of social media.
